The Need for Depression Treatment and Proper Diganosis
Depression treatment is quite an involved topic to say the least.
Depression is often a symptom of low self-esteem and for whatever reason, statistically; women seem to be hit by depression more than men.

This is a powerful painting by a wonderful artist I know who said:
"It just so happened that the final project of my printmaking class at TESC was a portfolio of lithographs on the subject: Monster. I chose to depict my own fear and depression-the biggest monster in my closet."
She is not alone by far. At this point I can say that I am something of an expert in the arena of depression through personal experience myself. Not exactly something to brag about, but I believe in making your weaknesses into your strength and intend to do so by sharing information to help others overcome their battles with low self-esteem and depression.
Having been diagnosed with chronic depression years ago, I found that one of the biggest problems I had was asking for help. I was always the tough one, taking care of business and felt that admitting something was wrong, let alone asking for help, made me weak.
It took a long time for me to break in the idea of actually working with a professional to find the right solution for myself, but once I did it was like a veil was lifted. Tests revealed I had a severe serotonin deficiency, only half of the normal serotonin levels in my brain that a normal person should have. Serotonin is the natural drug your brain produces to make you feel good, that is what allows us to be in a good mood. One depression treatment is to replenish the deficiency with its artificial equivalent and there are varied forms of medication that can assist in doing this.
There are many reasons that this could have occurred, scientific research has even revealed that children put under undue stress for endured periods of time can have that part of their brain chemistry physically inhibited by the experience.
The moral of the story? If you are depressed and suspect you may need depression treatment, you are not alone, and don't be afraid to seek help.
We must also learn the recognize the symptoms of depression.
There are also many different types of depression treatment available. They may be different for you than they are for me, but exploring your options is the first step in finding a cure.
