Inspiration for New Beginnings

Inspiration covers quite a tapestry of mediums, in fact it is as broad as our imagination.

As a writer I remember doing an exercise where we were given one phrase and had to create a whole story out of it. The story had to start with that single phrase…I got a kick out of how many different directions you could go with the same beginning. Yet we find ourselves mind-blocked by the beginnings in our lives, not seeing the endless potential of possibilities, different directions to choose from. Perhaps we are too close to the canvas? After all, isn’t it often far easier to see solutions to other people’s problems than our own?

So, I propose a new exercise, one that starts with the “beginning” that is in your life, and explores all the possible stories that could spring from that one point. But you have to approach it from a 3rd party perspective, as if it were someone else’s story. This Inspiration exercise is something that I am testing out in my own life, and if nothing else, it opens up your mind to different possibilities, where none seemed evident before.

In essence I see inspiration as a spark that ignites creation, the magic that brings forth something new…after all, what inspired the universe? _____________________________________________________________
