We Possess More Personal Power Than We Even Know...

I read a definition of personal power once that said that it is: "Your capacity to dream without limits and fulfill those dreams through your imagination." I'm afraid I do not recollect the author but I like the way they put it. You possess more personal power than you can possibly imagine. The ability to manifest our own reality is the power of creation itself. You can probably tell that I find this a fascinating topic for discussion. I believe that developing these abilities is a gift to ourselves and the world. Of course the measure of your character defines the quality of the impact that you have in using these gifts.

It can be a long and sometimes difficult journey to re-discover those qualities in ourselves after years of being trained to deny their existence. We use our personal power as children without even knowing what we are doing but then we are trained what to believe, how to think, and to limit ourselves by having our perception and interpretation of the world dictated to us by our conditioning. As a child our personal power is limiteless, but as we grow older it remains untapped.

This subject is near and dear to my heart as I am both writing my second book called: "Becoming a Black Belt Dreamer; Mastering Mental Martial Arts to Defend Your Dreams and Manifest your heart's desire!" on training to master a form of "mental martial arts" as well as putting together a program based on this concept as well. This process utilizes martial arts philosophy and techniques, applying them to mental self defense, building up our mental immune system to fight to regain and protect that which is most precious; our ability to dream. I believe this is an integral part of harnessing our personal power as well. I will be sharing more of this concept as I develop the program and launch my "Black Belt Dreamer Boot Camp" course.

What is a Black Belt Dreamer?

Let me give you a little history on the subject. In my life I have had to lean how to defend myself, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well. What started out as a passion for martial arts has expanded into far more than that, it became not just a means of learning physical self-defense and mental discipline, but also fueled my ability to defend myself spiritually and emotionally as well through the turmoil of a very restrictive and challenging upbringing. This is all about tapping back into your Peronal Power!

I chose the concept of Mental Martial Arts and the title of “Black Belt Dreamer” because a Black Belt in martial arts is one of the highest ranks of achievement in the skills of self-defense and mental discipline. I have applied those same principles to the psychological aspects of my life as well while I practiced martial arts over the years, successfully overcoming many challenges and obstacles in my own life to attain my dreams.

My mission is to expose, challenge and shatter belief systems that imprison the spirit, freeing the Dream Warrior within to manifest true dreams!

Here is a link to an audio I put together to introduce the concept of mental martial arts and the Black Belt Dreamer Bootcamp:

When I was a child, even though we were very poor, that is not how I saw my life. To give you an idea (and a quick journey into the workings of my mind) here is an excerpt from my autobiography "Firewalker" on this very subject:

EXCERPT:

“'My journey began here, in the strength of a child’s determination, a knowing that surpasses the guidance of fools.'

I did not know poverty as a child; I only knew of it when people told me that we were poor. Raiding the dumpsters behind the bagel shop seemed exciting. Often whole trays of bagels were tossed out at the end of the day. I clambered up the side of dumpsters reaching out to grasp the edge of the big cardboard cartons. They were heavy but I pulled hard, tugging them closer as Mom held me up over the edge.

I remember running and leaping into huge bins of autumn leaves collected by the city workers, flying with great abandon into the sweet smell of maple leaves. We took long walks looking for 'Junk Angels,' as Mom called them. So many wonderful things lay tossed away at the side of the road by our 'Junk Angels'. My eyes got big, who would throw away so many things? I remember sometimes being cold and hungry, but in the timelessness of a child it all remained a grand adventure."

Among other things we are taught to focus on the impossibility of our dreams as adults, why things 'can't be done'. Often we hide behind the 'how'. But don't worry about the means, they will come to you as part of the process, understand that the first step is reconnecting with your dreams in a magnificent flight of imagination. Often times we prematurely focus on the 'how' before the 'what' and stop the process before it has begun. The energy you generate by focusing on the what, will bring forth the how.

So let us re-discover and harness our own personal power!
